Whether you want to learn French for work, leisure or educational purposes, e.g. GCSEs or A-levels, Lucy provides carefully tailored lessons to meet your goals.

Lucy is known for her impressive range of visual aids, which have proved to be particularly useful when teaching not only children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia, but also adults with learning difficulties.

How does it work and what to expect from your tutor?

  • The first lesson involves an informal assessment to see what level you are at, and to ascertain what you would like to learn, or focus on, be it grammar, speaking, listening, reading or writing. If you are a parent, you are most welcome to sit in on the first lesson to discuss your child’s needs.

  • Each lesson is usually 1 hour long and login information for that session will be sent at least 3 hours before the scheduled time. Zoom and Skype are the standard platforms for lessons.

  • Every lesson is prepared meticulously in advance using a range of carefully prepared materials. Visual aids are often used to help facilitate learning. All learning materials are supplied at no extra cost.

  • Although not standard practice for tutors, Lucy offers an extra service (included in the price) of setting some optional homework to be done and also correcting it, to reinforce what you have learned during that lesson.

  • If your child is receiving tuition, after 10 lessons have elapsed, Lucy will provide a written report detailing your child’s progress so that you receive regular feedback.

Why has online tutoring become so popular? What are the benefits?

The fast pace of life often means that there never seems to be enough time in any given day. Online tutoring has become a highly time and cost effective way for people to receive tutoring without the inconvenience of having to travel to your tutor, (wait around if you are a parent), getting stuck in traffic, finding parking and so on. Everyone can learn in the comfort of their own home with a cup of tea or coffee, with all their materials within easy reach. Many of Lucy’s clients have switched to online tutoring (also known as remote or distance learning) over the years for simplicity.

Small group tuition is a great way of helping both children and adults advance their foreign language skills. Group language learning is a great motivator, enjoyable way of learning and allows a platform to share knowledge with other group members.
